Our member, Zalmhuys Group, has acquired a majority stake in BML Food Group, a The Hague-based importer and distributor of shrimp and frozen seafood. With this acquisition, Zalmhuys Group strengthens its position in the European seafood market and further expands its expertise in the shrimp sector.
BML Food Group was founded in 2007 and, from its headquarters in The Hague and refrigerated warehouses in Lekkerkerk and Breda, serves more than 360 customers in over 30 countries. The company supplies both private-label products and products under its own brand, Ben’s Easy Kitchen, to wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, and retailers, among others.
For the Zalmhuys Group, BML complements its existing product range and international network. In recent years, the Urk-based group has evolved from a salmon company into a diversified supplier of fresh, frozen, and smoked fish and seafood. BML brings to the table, among other things, specialized knowledge of shrimp and a broad European customer base.
BML will continue to operate as an independent company. The current directors, Ben Slothouber and Graeme Kerr, will remain involved and retain a minority stake. According to Zalmhuys Group, BML’s independence is precisely one of its key strengths.
