Urk Seafood has won the Rabobank Water Challenge. During the finals in Zwolle, the pitch on the future construction of a Circular Water Plant in Urk was rewarded with a check for €30,000.
Through the Circular Water Plant, Urk’s business community aims to develop a future-proof and circular solution for water. Ensuring an adequate water supply is of great importance for the continued development of industry in Urk, including the substantial seafood sector.
Rein Brands, who heads the Urk Seafood Cluster, presented the plan during the finals together with Grietje Vlot. The pitch underscored the business community’s ambition to collectively take responsibility for the water supply while also focusing on reuse and sustainability.
The grant awarded by Rabobank provides a significant boost to the further development of the initiative. This marks the next step toward a concrete and future-proof water solution for Urk.
